Recruiters 'must focus on added value'

It is important that companies in the sales recruitment sector focus on establishing best practice and demonstrating the added value they provide to employers in the sector, one industry body advised.

Hamish Pringle, director general of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, said that there is a need for sales recruitment firms to "continue raising the bar", particularly when it comes to the marketing creative industries market.

He explained: "The focus now has to be on raising the real and perceived value of recruitment agencies, through increased professionalism. In the current day and age, agencies cannot just know the price of everything and the value of nothing."

Mr Pringle added that this is one of the key factors in securing long-term growth, adding that recruiters should be encouraged to become long-term "brand guardians".
